Professor Marta Czesnikiewicz-Guzik

Marta Czesnikiewicz-Guzik is a dentist, clinician scientist and educator specialising in periodontology and oral surgery. Her research examines how periodontal inflammation affects systemic health, with a particular focus on the relationship between periodontitis, endothelial dysfunction and hypertension, and on the immune mechanisms that connect them.

She graduated with honours in dentistry in Kraków, completed doctoral and habilitation degrees in Poland and postdoctoral training in human immunology in the United States, and holds specialist qualifications in oral surgery (Poland) and periodontology (United Kingdom). In 2021 she was awarded the title of Professor by the President of the Republic of Poland.

She has authored more than 100 scientific publications in leading cardiovascular, immunology and dental journals, founded Poland's first evidence-based dentistry journal, and has held national leadership roles in periodontology and evidence-based dentistry.

She has taught periodontology to undergraduate and postgraduate students for more than a decade and is a long-standing advocate of international, evidence-based dental education. Through Veritas Clinical Innovations she leads the periodontology programme and advises on oral–systemic research and study design.
